Patient Transportation from Perth, Australia to New Delhi

This narrative recounts a patient transport episode designed to enlighten international travellers on the significance and indispensability of travel insurance. Esteemed colleagues, Ashoka Rescue was contacted by a student in Australia faced with the urgent need to repatriate his father to India.

The father, who suffered a brain haemorrhage and consequent paralysis in the right side of his upper and lower limbs, was reliant on a ventilator for survival. The student possessed only the basic travel insurance mandated for his visa.

Following discussions with the attending physician, it was advised that transporting the patient via air ambulance was the appropriate course of action. Regrettably, the Australian air ambulance services proposed a fee of roughly 300,000 Australian dollars, a rather large amount. With the travel insurance exhausted, the patient’s medical fees were being met through social welfare and the benevolence of the Sikh community.
Faced with the urgent need to repatriate his father, the student sought our assistance. Our team collaborated with local gurudwara authorities who generously provided unwavering support. AshokaRescue Medical Transports organized a comprehensive medical transport service for the father’s transportation to New Delhi.

We offered a commercial stretcher, oxygen supply, and two medical escorts, assisting bed-to-bed at a reduced cost of 45,000 Australian dollars. The patient and his family members expressed their profound gratitude to us for our invaluable and timely aid in facilitating this endeavour, providing a dependable and reliable transport.

In closing:
It is imperative to meticulously assess and secure comprehensive travel insurance that aligns with the requirements of the destination country. The staggering medical expenses in certain regions underscore the critical need for adequate coverage. For prolonged stays, acquiring local medical insurance is strongly recommended. We extend our heartfelt appreciation for the kindness and solidarity demonstrated by the Perth gurudwara committee for entrusting Ashoka Rescue for this medical transportation.
